What is gladiator rated r for

A great performance by jaquin pheonix and russel crowe! Adult Written by JammyDodgerz March 26, Great on most parts - a must watch for anyone with teenage children A film that suits Russel Crow very well. Unfortunately, there were a few parts that should be skipped through such as the beginning scene if you have younger children Not a full for anybody easily scared or traumatised as there are some quite graphic scenes. Recommend it totally though. Written by Anonymous November 14, An Exemplary Film Gladiator is the kind of film that makes you wish others were just like it.

Everything from the acting and directing, to the filming and effects is perfect. However, it may be a little too bloody for younger teens.

Which, of course, is expected from a movie about gladiators, but nonetheless, be careful when watching it. And lastly, the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars, is because its not necessarily one of my favorite movies.

Even so, I highly recommend it to film lovers. Adult Written by Redditch March 23, I am entertained If you want to watch a film that shows you how to make a film then watch this. All I can say is I wish used films like this to make films, real actors, real emotion and an ending that justifies its self. Dont watch this if you love history Parent of a year-old Written by Heather K.

March 10, Chill out man, we're all entertained Gladiator is beautifully shot and acted, and the battles are so realistic, this film really captures the fright of gladitorial combat, and how terrible some things were back then.

It is violent at times, but mostly only in the gladiator fights and in the opening scene- people are stabbed, decapitated, slashed, and chopped with swords. Most of this is gory. Maximus's family is crucified and burned offscreen, though their charred legs and feet are seen hanging. There is no nudity except a male slave in a loincloth, one brief kiss, and Commodus is in love with his sister. Adult Written by InuzukaKana October 8, This alone would give me good reason to watch it, due to it's heart-stringing nature.

One of the only issues I would be concerned with in showing my future kids would be it's singular, I think inference of incest. I love Joaquin Phoenix so I could overlook it, but I probably wouldn't want to introduce them to that sort of thing in the fashion it's presented if they're under twelve.

Everything else is completely acceptable; the violence isn't gut wrenching unless you struggle with blood, and there really aren't many other problems with it. Of course, me being a historian in nature, I have a problem with a few historical incongruities, but I'll survive as it is fictitious. I actually think that the blood and gore is important to some historical context; a lot of people forget just how violent society is and just how violent death really is.

The movie takes down the glorified Roman Empire and shows it as it is in it's bloody nature. I appreciate that, and I think that once in a while people need to take a hit and need to be reminded of the past and respect the people that actually lived and died through this era. All in all, good, well-written, and creative movie. Remember; teens are more receptive in a good way to mature themes than you give them credit for.

Just don't promote them and glorify them. Parent of a 9 and year-old Written by Michael T. We will continue to add and update review scores.
