However, the biggest hiccup comes from the way they archive everything. There is no chance to unpost, fix the mistake, and repost. Some people like this because of accountability. However, when you're used to a job shop system like E2 by Shoptech, where they allow you to post and unpost before you finalize the year, it's a major pain.
Every single manager has called GSS with an issue to get resolved because of something related to this setup and each time the rep has responded, "Why would you want to do that? Because we're the customer, and that's how we work.
We're not a huge company but we do a ton of warehousing and work with a lot of fulfillment and 2-tier distribution customers. There isn't time to have to completely recreate the wheel on a single issue when all it takes is pulling it out and reposting.
And it kills our Accounting team. You'd think they would love the accountability. But in reality, everything they try to do takes 3x as many steps - Not an exaggeration. We were told from the beginning that the system would be highly customizable to our business. In a sense, that's true. We can request all kinds of custom development.
That's great if you have someone who knows the system, the software, and their database table layouts. And chances are, you never will. There are literally thousands of tables they have with data everywhere.
While the upfront cost is usually low, they will get you on the backside with maintenance costs and development fees. The ARC system that has custom packages available for everyone is a joke.
There might be 10 useful programs or reports of the s that are in there. Many will be broken for your company because they were specifically developed to work for a different company. I could go on about how the interface allows very little customization, or how you have to have several different tables filled in to make certain transactions work, or how the setup process consists of their people coming in and very quickly setting a bunch of settings that aren't really explained but have dire consequences on how the software will function but that would be off topic.
The backend for this ERP is a cluster. These guys are small time even if they seem fancy and have locations everywhere. The techs are great, but the sales people will make sure you pay for everything and then some.
