The University of Exeter and Tsinghua University have launched a jointly-awarded PhD degree programme in climate and environmental sciences which supports six students to be co-supervised between Tsinghua's Department of Earth System Science and Colleges at Exeter that conduct research on earth systems and environmental sciences.

Both university staff and students from the years above are willing to help or give guidance as much as they can.
There are so many ways to connect with other international students too, such as the Global Chums Scheme and international student societies. Having spent three years as an undergraduate, I can concede that they were right. The start of my university journey was a time filled with anticipation and trepidation, but now that I near the conclusion of this chapter I can say with all certainty that Exeter was the best place for me.
The course definitely has a large focus on getting you career ready and provides you with ample opportunity to pursue higher studies as well. The numerous fieldtrips are one of the ways in which we get to learn the industry practice by interacting with practitioners and property managers. My one piece of advice to new students would be to come with an open mind, apply for all opportunities that come your way and take up volunteering or working part time to gain a broader experience in the field.
Transitioning into higher education can be a daunting time, both academically — making the move from school or college to a university mode of study — and socially — leaving an established social network. It is important for all students to feel connected and have a sense of belonging in their new environment. This is why the Enhanced Induction programme that I organise is so important, as we offer additional support to students adjusting to life and study at university. This means that students start their university journey with more confidence, having made connections both academically and personally.
