I've just been walking up and down the coast from school to school. Not dangerous either. There's some murlocs along the shore, but very easy to avoid. I'm not sure what level you have to be to catch them but just buy some shiny baubles and you'll be fine - i never had a problem trying to fish them and they're great for my alchemist and water potions. Don't recall how long I fished for though I caught 60 Albacore, 26 Oily blackmouth and about 50 Mackrel.

It just next to one of the shamans shrine. There a entire school of them. Also I started fishing here around Comentado por Allakhazam Ok, I just figured out a way to get a really great catch ratio! Get a fishing pole and go to someplace like Darkshore shoreline north of Aub is best or Windsheer Crag the river, I think, but watch out for mob attacks. Those are the two best places I've noticed, so far, that are lower level areas for either faction.
Find the Oily Blackmouth Schools and cast your line into the circle or on the edge of the circle they make. In most of those cases but probably not all all you have to do is wade out past the school into deeper water and cast inland toward the school.
Since they're usually in shallow areas that shouldn't be too hard while still staying above swimming depth. I haven't tested this out in the river yet, but trying different angles of casting might work there too. Just move around until you can hit the target. Just to make it faster, I put my fishing ability into a quick bar slot at the bottom in the secondary section so I could recast quickly if the bobber landed outside the circle. That's roughly 1 in 4 for Oily's, by far the best average of all the places I fish. I was so excited I mentioned my success rate in the general channel and had several folks join me, with similar success, though not as high. My fishing is so don't know if that factors in or not. Started at Fishing This was WAY more plentiful than it had been three weeks ago for me. I'm fishing on the bluff just North of the dock, and then also around the corner. It would be nice if the waters were just a little higher level, since, at , you only generate a point every five pulls here. I found all of 3 pools between Lordanel and Nazj'vel, 2 of which were Firefin Snapper.
I found 5 pools around Nazj'vel itself, of which 3 were Firefin Snapper. I've read speculation that the Firefin and Oily Blackmouth share spawn points. Either way, either someone was running ahead of me fishing pools, or I was incredibly blind. Comment by Thottbot Alright you guys. Let's see if this helps.. You don't need a specific skill to catch this fish, just the skill to fish in the area. For instance, Booty Bay fishing has a lot of these. Without bait, it's hell. For the Blackmouth Oil, you just need to talk to the trainer. I don't believe you need to hunt and buy a recipe. The uses of the Oil are many, including enchanting and alchemy. The potions that use the oil, such as the Swim Speed Potion, sell for a lot in the AH if you time it right.
And like all fish, these are rare in some places. With bait, you'll catch these and other fish used for cooking, alchemy, and other proffs.
